These cafés and bakeries make the best Franzbrötchen and cinnamon rolls in all of Hamburg. Your favorite will depend on the situation; whether for breakfast or as a rich indulgence – each place has its own twists!

My favorite places to go to in Hamburg.
Cinnamon Roll, Franzbrötchen, or Kanelbullar? After three tastings I eventually decided how to conclude on Hamburg’s swirled cinnamon pastries.
Public Coffee Roasters belongs to Hamburg’s leading specialty coffee roasters. They roast all their coffee, light as well as medium, on an idyllic pontoon at Entenwerder and brew it for the public at their three distinct coffee shops in town.
Moki’s Goodies is a cute and personal café on Eppendorfer Weg in Hoheluft. I love to come here for a hot drink and cake, the breakfast porridge, avocado on their homemade gluten-free bread or healthy, fresh lunches. Moki’s Goodies is always wonderful and very kind.
How could rainy, gray, but cozy Hamburg not have a porridge café? Well it didn’t till the three ladies behind Bräi established their hobby to a job. Here they perfect simple scottish porridge with unique toppings!
Looking on the Ookie Dough side of life, 2017 was a great year. However I hope that 2018 will boost Ookie Dough even more. Read on to see what I have planned and tell me what you’re most interested in!
The specialty coffee shops in Bordeaux are what made me fall in love with the town. They are personal and keep the french culture, whilst staying a modern third wave coffee shop. Plus they can make some really good matcha, beetroot and pumpkin spice latte 😉
Playground Coffee, the name says it all. This coffee shops is a small show-space to chat, be entertained by ironic baristas and have a great flat white.
A minimalistic, playful ice cream shop in Eppendorf with pure and natural flavors that are made fresh right in the back of the shop . . . Try apricot, vanilla, chocolate, black-currant, pistachio . . . and and and !
Hearty open faced sandwiches that the owner Katrin perfects to her childhood memories. Kropka is a one time special in Eimsbüttel, rustic-cozy, delicious and casual. Perfect for breakfast, specialty coffee and cake, laptop-working, lunch, an early dinner – or just to chat with friends.
A third wave coffee shop with some of the best breakfasts in Hamburg. All is dainty, delicious and there are vegan and gluten free options as well. They’re famous for their fluffy, soft waffles, my favorite being the lime-mascarpone one. But it’s also the perfect spot for a work date, or leisurely breakfast with avocado quinoa fritters or a lox-red beet toast.
