How could rainy, gray, but cozy Hamburg not have a porridge café? Well it didn’t till the three ladies behind Bräi established their hobby to a job. Here they perfect simple scottish porridge with unique toppings!

Hamburgers have been exploding in Hamburg over the last years, and there’s quite a lot of creativity, also in the meatless versions – seitan patties, wasabi-mayo, rice buns, tofu-peanut-banana patties . . .
P.S. Meat-eaters: my meat tæster got a bullet point for each featured burger spot, so there’s some advice and tipps for you here too.

A third wave coffee shop with some of the best breakfasts in Hamburg. All is dainty, delicious and there are vegan and gluten free options as well. They’re famous for their fluffy, soft waffles, my favorite being the lime-mascarpone one. But it’s also the perfect spot for a work date, or leisurely breakfast with avocado quinoa fritters or a lox-red beet toast.

This Breton restaurant along the canals is a perfect choice for any occasion. The array of galettes are mouth-watering, accompanied by traditional apple cider, and some homemade caramel-salt crêpes for dessert. This is one of my very favorite recommendations for dinner in Hamburg: unique, different, and always delicious.

Here I tried to describe them each by their consistency, taste, toppings, and price. You’ll see which ones are my favorites for which reason.

This hanseatic town has delicious and different types of pizza to offer.  Lots of classical Italian, but also innovative, creative and the build-your-own kind.  Below are my three favorite pizzerias to go to – they all differ quite a lot from each other.  It really depends on where you are, who you’re going with, and what you feel like eating to decide which one you opt for.

Happen Pappen is a locals favorite and just as popular amongst the non vegan. They make scrumptious dishes: From daily varying lunch bowls, to opulent cakes or raw tarts, and in the evening my favorite vegan burgers in town.
