The specialty coffee shops in Bordeaux are what made me fall in love with the town. They are personal and keep the french culture, whilst staying a modern third wave coffee shop. Plus they can make some really good matcha, beetroot and pumpkin spice latte 😉

Playground Coffee, the name says it all. This coffee shops is a small show-space to chat, be entertained by ironic baristas and have a great flat white.

Bordeaux is the French town of wine… but I was more interested in the avo-toasts, matcha and coconut lattes, vegan gluten-free fudgy chocolate cookies and organic ice cream parlors across from cathedrals and churches on plazas, merged by narrow stoned alleyways and beautiful copper lamps . . . and I’m keeping myself short.  Plus wild beaches, spectacular sanddunes and the coasts of oyster farmings are just an hours train ride away.

A third wave coffee shop with some of the best breakfasts in Hamburg. All is dainty, delicious and there are vegan and gluten free options as well. They’re famous for their fluffy, soft waffles, my favorite being the lime-mascarpone one. But it’s also the perfect spot for a work date, or leisurely breakfast with avocado quinoa fritters or a lox-red beet toast.
