The list of hip cafés in Barcelona is long, however only a handful were authentic and individual. Here you will find my four favorites: from the cacti filled concept store to the minimalist coffee lab.

Public Coffee Roasters belongs to Hamburg’s leading specialty coffee roasters. They roast all their coffee, light as well as medium, on an idyllic pontoon at Entenwerder and brew it for the public at their three distinct coffee shops in town.
It is not hard to find great breakfast in Copenhagen. But it took me 10 tries, to find the ones that blew my mind. These two spots are where I advise anyone to go who wants to dine their best breakfast in Copenhagen. Both have a personal flair, creative menu, dainty presentation and delicious execution.
Supernova is the newest concept store and café in Val Thorens. The owner, Amélie Simond, was a professional freeride skier from town. With Supernova, she has complimented the dominant Savoyard cuisine with organic, vegetarian and refreshing dining alternatives.
Moki’s Goodies is a cute and personal café on Eppendorfer Weg in Hoheluft. I love to come here for a hot drink and cake, the breakfast porridge, avocado on their homemade gluten-free bread or healthy, fresh lunches. Moki’s Goodies is always wonderful and very kind.
Montpellier is a student town: small and medieval, but quite international. Probably these six universities are to thank for the abundant selection of lavish avocado toasts, vegan buddha bowls, and bourbon-butter mapled bacon pancakes. These are my top tips for where to drink coffee, work and eat in Montpellier!
Hearty open faced sandwiches that the owner Katrin perfects to her childhood memories. Kropka is a one time special in Eimsbüttel, rustic-cozy, delicious and casual. Perfect for breakfast, specialty coffee and cake, laptop-working, lunch, an early dinner – or just to chat with friends.
Bordeaux is the French town of wine… but I was more interested in the avo-toasts, matcha and coconut lattes, vegan gluten-free fudgy chocolate cookies and organic ice cream parlors across from cathedrals and churches on plazas, merged by narrow stoned alleyways and beautiful copper lamps . . . and I’m keeping myself short. Plus wild beaches, spectacular sanddunes and the coasts of oyster farmings are just an hours train ride away.
• Ottensen • Poached Eggs • Avocado • Pancakes •
I have the impression that the new standard for breakfast places is avocado toast with poached eggs, at least in Germany that’s the new discovery. It seems to somehow qualify an eatery to some higher level. Or maybe it just makes me think that they have some higher concept? Something “better” than just nicely assorted fruit, three different kinds of German rolls and samples of jam and cheese. However nice it’s made up to be, that is just not my cup of tea.
A Hipster Breakfast in Hamburg
In Berlin avocado toast and real good pancakes aren’t a new thing. But in Hamburg the only avocado and poached egg combo I’ve had so far was in my kitchen. Then, I came upon RAIN Cafeatery in the heart of Ottensen.
